Christofer came along shortly after Vincent died, when I found myself with a hole in my heart that needed to be filled... and an extra cage just sitting around the apartment. So I went to PetCo and fell in love with a little—actually, he was huge—lop-eared bunny that I named Christofer Marlowe. Throughout his time with us, he proved himself to be the most independent of all the babies. He was very possessive of all of his things, and if you rearranged them, he would promptly make his way over to them and put them back where he knew they belonged. He loved Peteman and wanted to be around him as much as he could. He and Gus played a lot at first. Once he moved in with my sister's rabbit Oliver, he more or less decided when the cats were allowed in the cage and when it was time for them to leave. He was a sweetheart, but a royal pain, too. He loved getting yelled at, and the more he got into trouble for something, the more he did it. He liked to eat wires, couches, and anything made of paper or wood. I always said that I loved him as much as I hated him, and then Jeremy would say, "You must hate him a lot!" Twice in his life, he caught a parasite infection in his brain from fleas, and the first time he was able to fight it. The second time, it was too much for him, but we have an imprint of his pawprint that we keep on our bookshelf, and we'll never forget our first bun.
